Following our exchanges in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean in June, August and September 2015, the Gender and Internet Governance eXchange will now be held in Durban, South Africa on 10 October 2016 in partnership with the  African School on Internet Governance (Afrisig). 14 women’s rights and internet rights  advocates from Uganda and South Africa will come together to discuss and exchange knowledge on the intersections of women’s rights and internet governance. Participants will have the opportunity to put the skills and knowledge acquired during the gigX into practice as they participate in the African Internet Governance Forum from 16 to 18 October 2016, in Durban, South Africa.

Women’sNet South Africa in partnership with WOUGNET Uganda are implementing a 2 year project running 2016-2017, funded by the UN Fund on Gender Equality, aimed at increasing women’s decision making and influence in internet Governance and ICT policy for the realisation of women’s rights in Africa. This Gigx is one important event which forms part of the project. (For further information on this project please email women (at) womensnet.org.za
